I am very happy with both of them. Lights show I've had a steady power source since I plugged them in. I have not used the cord wrap feature either so I can't speak about that.
If you have lots of adapters to plug in, this is a great strip.

(More customer reviews)I really liked the idea of the split system, and the idea that it could be a lot quieter than a window A/C. I needed the 25' hose kit since I was installing it on a second floor room (~250 sq ft), so I had to order through the distributor instead of Amazon.
It's now installed and it works - cools and heats really well. It's a bit noisier than I thought from the other reviews, but it's a lot quieter than the old window unit it's replacing. We use the room for meditation and yoga - we were hoping for something even quieter, but its internal squirrel cage fan seems a little off balance, and various plastic parts sometimes rattle.
It arrived in three packages - the outside unit, the inside unit, and the hoses. For me the hardest part about installing the outside unit was that I had to put in an outside disconnect box for power, and all the conduit and fittings that required, and a dedicated 15 amp circuit. It took a couple of days and about four trips back to the hardware store to get it right. It easily just sits on a couple of 12"x12" pavers from Home Depot - you could use cinder blocks - just something under the feet.
The indoor unit was hard to mount - it's heavy and awkward - you need two people. I had to buy a 2-3/4" hole saw to make the hole in the wall for the hoses (pipes), power cable, and condensation drain line (one hole for all). But it does snap onto the bracket when it's done.
The (amazing!) instructions are actually adequate, but they had me buy a torque wrench for the refrigerant flare fittings, which it turns out you don't need - a regular adjustable wrench (or two) is fine. It took a couple of trips up and down the ladder with soap solution and the wrenches to get the fittings snug and not leaking. The thing they don't tell you is that to get the air out of the system you press the Schrader valve stem for 3-4 seconds (it really blasts out) on the "T-branch valve" (which is closed, while the fluid line valve is open). Then you're good to go.
The tape you're supposed to wrap the hoses (pipes), cable, and drain line with is not sticky - it's just a strip of thin vinyl, and it's too easy to drop it from high on a ladder while you're wrapping. But it finally works.
The last thing that got me was when it was all wired up, nothing happened. I used a test meter and verified that power was going to the outside unit from the disconnect box okay, and to the cable to the indoor unit. I finally had the determination to open the cover on the indoor unit, remove the 5 screws, and remove the middle cover. Then I removed the metal cover from the electronics module (one screw) and discovered that the cable had pulled and one of the power connectors was now about one inch too short to reach where it was supposed to connect! Another trip to the hardware store and I had an extension (the cable could not be pulled back since it was now all wrapped tight with the hoses). It was hard to plug in, but with a long pair of needle-nose pliers I finally got it. Putting it all back together is tricky (a true Chinese puzzle) but patience works, and the air-direction vanes are not damaged, and everything fits nicely.
And it works!
I figure I saved $1000 by installing it myself (based on one bid from an HVAC guy), and I'm happy I did. I'd definitely do it again.

In my area, we need an AC only for few days a year; it was a pain to mount/unmount the window AC in summer/winter. So this one is perfect here, just plug it to the power and window and we have a good night of sleep.
It uses only 620W (300W less energy consumption than other portable ACs in this class), so we set it to the lowest temperature and let it cool continuously. The noise level is acceptable; we place it on upstairs and can barely hear it downstairs. Ran it for 24 hours and no need to drain water. In case the light says the tank is full, don't drain the water too much as the water tank is used to cool down the machine for better efficiency. I also cover the hot hose with thick cloth.
During a heat wave, we start it in the morning with all windows closed and it keeps our house to 87F while the outside is 105F. Without this AC, temperature would be 91F even at downstairs, too high to stay with and upstairs would be simply baking. 87F is OK, especially for a day or two only. After the sun goes down, we still leave it on but open all the windows. This helps hugely on a heat wave in a otherwise cool area like Oregon vally. Hard to live without it. However, I think it is useless in a hot area like Texas.
The window mounting kit was missing, called SPT and a gentaman told me it would arrive in 3-5 days. What a customer support! While I'm waiting for the kit, I simply cut a hole on a small flat box and it works like a charm.
Unless your wife is a neat freak who asks you to unmount a window AC every winter, then don't buy a portable AC. The latter is significantly less cool than the former. But if you're as lucky as me and your area is not hot enough to worth a central AC, then you'd better get this.

The only reason I did not give the unit 5 stars is because it has only 3 ring tones. However, one is the "Let 'em In" Beatles sound which is cool enough. I've purchased cheaper models that did not work. My suggestion is spend the money and buy this system. Even better, buy it when Amazon gives you free shipping!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this timer to control an air conditioner that I installed in my garage. The air conditioner has its own thermostat, but no day to day clock.
Installation could not have been any simpler. The timer simply plugs into the wall outlet, and then the air conditioner cord plugs into the side of the timer. The timer has a standard, 3-prong, 20A, 240V plug and outlet.
The timer works as expected -- the on and off times are set using the familiar plastic tabs that one often sees elsewhere (on landscape light transformers, water heater timers, etc.).
You may not want to use this plug in or next to a bedroom as the mechanical clock's ticking noise is loud.
For this price, I expected to be able to find a 7-day schedule timer (digital or mechanical), rather than this same-schedule-each-day unit. But I searched and did not find much of a selection among low cost, 240 volt timers.

It doesn't look broken, but will no longer stand up straight. I don't think they should support such a heavy fan with such flimsy plastic legs that get brittle and break after you've had it a while.
I've contacted the company. If they reply and offer to replace the legs, I will update this review.

(More customer reviews)I am a contractor and I have heard great things about festool products but never bought any, mostly due to the price. I had a gift card and thought I would give this a try to see what the fuss was about. When I first recieved it I was really disapointed. It looks and feals cheap and I thought about sending it back but thought it probably wasnt worth the hassle. I started putting it in my pocket in the morning and seem to use it almost as much as my main tape. I really like the ability to take an accurate reading up to a wall or corner with the little window and I suspect that I will also use the circle scribing tool at some point. By the way, I checked and the measurment through the little window is dead on accurate.
I ussually cary a FatMax tape and love them, but they are a little cumbersome for smaller measurements. This little tool is great for the small, precice measurments necessary from time to time. Also the readings are on both sides of the tape so you can see through the little window. To accomplish this the back side of the tape starts about 4" from the end of the tape. If you have ever cut a piece 1" long from "burning and inch" lay the tape with the bottom up and you get an accurate measurment and dont have to return to the saw in shame! As for durability, I havent broken it yet and I suspect it wont without flat out abuse.
The bottom line is this isnt a fatmax tape. It has virtually no standout, and the tape is only about 1/2" wide. It is only 10' long so you will be limited for a lot of measurments. This tape is really a poor choice if you are not needing very tight precision. However, if you are a trim carpenter, woodworker, or do any type of fine finish work, I can recomend this tool as a high quality, precise tool. Stick one in your pocket and you will be amazed at how much you use it.

I sincerely doubt that it will really cool a 450 sq ft area but it does a great job for my bedroom upstairs...which is all I was really concerned with. My bedroom measures 13' x 12' or 156 sq ft and it takes about an hour to get from 85° F to 69° F. Setting it up was a breeze. The only problem I had was with the window exhaust kit. The expandable PVC plastic window mount wasn't long enough to cover the entire height of my bedroom window...it's about 5 inches too short. I had to cover that space with a piece of plastic that I cut to fit and duct taped in place. One thing I don't like about this unit is the placement of the exhaust hose...it's in the back. Some units have it on the top of the unit so that you can place the unit almost flush against the wall. The back of my unit sticks out about a foot and a half from the wall which makes getting around it a slight pain in the rear...but hey, at least I'll be cool this summer :). Another con...it doesn't have oscilating louvers. The louvers are fixed and can't be adjusted up or down. There are lateral louvers behind the front grill that can be adjusted manually from side to side with a slider. Oh...and one more thing...it's pretty loud when the compressor is running. It takes some getting used to.

(More customer reviews)Wow! And a second WOW! This solar powered motion detector alarm I purchased through Amazon will blow the socks off any intruder!(And neighbors). I love it because it powers itself; it can be 3-set for off; or (mine has an on-range of about twenty feet plus a side angle coverage) blink the brightest blue colored police-like warning lights; or press the one of the two pushbutton switches and the blinking will accompany a commandeering voice of warning about entering your protected area. Plus, from Amazin' Amazon, I also installed the greatest and reasonable (to me, as a retired engineer)available solar powered motion detecting Light that uses white LEDs - by Concept. So we also have light on the intruder..(together, a few weeks ago, they frightened away a bear who visited us at 4 A.M.looking for his din-din).
One problem with the alarm. DO NOT DROP THE TWO FOREIGN-MADE SCREWS - they are the thinnest and the only ones that fit the two small mounting holes. Lose one and you'll regret it! Lucky we had a magnet to comb the surrounding grass. And if absolutely necessary, drilling a larger hole(s) for American size might ruin the inside sealed-in components. Otherwise, M.Lucky says: BUY 'EM BOTH - ALARM & LIGHT! (from Amazon, of course)!

I was also looking for full spectrum lamps which are my favorite since the light mirrors natural light. I first bought the Norm@nde Full spectrum lamp thinking it was such a great deal for such a low price. The Norm@nde lamp was crap, after reading the reviews left on the product I thought they might have just got the defected ones and I might not be so unlucky. but the product was merely crap, the crane was loose and broken at the bottom where the crane joins the base. The material felt cheap and like it would snap with little force. So I sent it back to amazon for a refund and bought this lamp instead. BEST choice I've made. the on/off switch is touch sensitive and VERY responsive. the base is VERy solid and stable. the crane reaches far and the joins near the lamp could be turned to. So basically anywhere you put the lamp you can choose to illuminate any specific area. The light is really bright so it doesn't cause any eye strains after reading for 6+ hrs. basically if your looking for a full spectrum lamp and you don't want to pay the overly exaggerated prices that some companies place on their products, this is it. it has everything and its rock solid.

If the diameter is 10 inches, then the radius is 5 inches, just about right for the purpose outlined below.
If you are doing lights for a video, or are involved in videomaking in any big way, you know how important it is to light up the scene with soft lights that are very even in intensity.At first glance, this dome looks like it is transparent, and could be mounted on a small plate of acrylic that is cut just right so it slips perfectly into the barndoors of a PAR38 can (these things often have a 75 or 100 watt lamp or bulb in them). The result ought to be a nice, soft glow, and less expensive than a professional softbox costing hundreds of dollars. (It obviously doesn't slide into the mouth of a PAR38, the way it is, you will have to modify it, perhaps by epoxying the dome onto a suitable piece of acrylic that slips into the can.)
