(More customer reviews)The drawbacks mentioned by the other reviewers are very minor. There is a short delay in the circuitry after clicking the transmitter, so that rapid on/off from the same clicker may not work. I haven't tried it with using the two clickers I have, but my guess is that the delay is inherent in the technology of the transmitter, not the receiver. The transmitters appear to use a piezo-electric crystal to generate their electricity. The crystal is struck, causing it to give of the current used for the RF signal. After being struck they take a moment to return to the previous state, hence the delay. It could also explain why repeated multiple uses during a short period of time could cause it not to function for a while. The thing could break, but it's not going to wear out. They are perfect for three-way (or more) applications, and have saved me a lot of work it putting switches in where the lighting had previously been on pull-chains. The in-line receiver is a little bit large (about the size of a pack of cigarettes), and it may not fit in a junction box that has more than the power and the fixture wires going to and from it. My only objection is that I wish they were a bit cheaper. With remote controls for ceiling fans so reasonably priced, it would be nice if these were about half the price they are. NOTE: They're still a lot cheaper than hiring an electrician and a lot less work than running new wiring yourself.
Also, if you ever have need to talk to the company, they are great people. I needed to order a second receiver, and they called to make sure I hadn't mistakenly ordered one without a transmitter thinking I was getting a complete system and offering to cancel the order if I had screwed up. I assured them I already had a transmitter, so they wen ahed with the order. It arrived the following day.
