Suncast Storage Building Review

If you are in the market for a vinyl or resin type storage building, this is certainly one worth looking at. There are not a lot of reviews posted on this shed at the present, so take your time and do your homework before choosing any of them. I would advise a visit to your local Lowes or Home Depot to look at vinyl buildings first handed. Regarding building the shed, I built my Suncast 10' x 12' on a 3/4" exterior grade, treated plywood platform and 2" x 6" lumber as opposed to a concrete slab. I used "Dek Blocks" to support the platform, which really made the job easy to level and very strong. I used 27 blocks in total or 3 Dek-Blocks per 10' joist. Making sure the platform is square and dead level is key to building this shed. If you do a good job on the base, the assembly of the shed is really quite simple and even rewarding when completed. Most of the shed snaps together which I found unusual. That concerned me with regards to durability but I have certainly overcome that comfort level. The parts are indeed well built, extremely precise and although some of the parts seem to be quite flimsy out of the box "mainly the walls", once the assembly is completed and all tied together, the shed is really quite sturdy. I followed my own intuition regarding the building of the platform as I found Suncast's instructions quite poor in that area. Common sense will help you through that. Personally, I like the Royal Winchester storage building a tad more as the side walls and roof panels are built using 2" thick material honeycomb resin panels. This building is very solid! The Winchester shed which measures 8' x 10' is sold at your local Lowes. I did not choose this shed as the extension kit to make it 10' x 12' was way too expensive. I hope you find this review helpful. Scott

This shed took 2 of us about 12 hours to put together. The directions were very good and everything fit perfectly! Three years later, it still looks as good as the day we built it and it holds up to Michigan winters well. Yesterday my plastic thumb latch on my door handle broke. I wish they would have had a better design than plastic, but I just called Lifetime Customer Service line and they are sending me a free replacement part. I don't anticipate many more problems because this shed is QUALITY construction. The 10-year warranty and cooperative Customer Service is surely a positve. As another review said, the shelving could have used better support bars and most of the "extras" are expensive and not worth the price. I suggest getting the basic shed and building your own shelving.

I did alot of research before purchasing this shed on sale at 997! All other reviews have been awesome on other sites... and I can't say how the winter / snow will be since we haven't had to deal with that yet. However, the beams do seem very strong, and there are a bunch of them, so I can't forsee any trouble.
However, there are more then 500 screws that go into this, so it will take 3-4 hours to build, 2 adults. It is easy to build, nice shelveing and slots to hang things, etc. One inner light, 2 vents and a window that does open. All in all a great shed for the money. It really looks nice too, our neighbors have commented on it.
We had no problems with the instructions, and the doors went on easily and aligned perfectly. They open wide, so no need to worry about them reclosing or not enough room. Roomy inside, 8 x 10. Left door has its own lock to keep it shut, and space to lock both doors from outside.

Hello
I bought this elsewhere and have installed it on a stable platform on concrete blocks. It is large enough for lawnmower and quite a bit of storage.I felt the roof was fairly well constructed.. it does have a complete poly floor. The doors are somewhat flimsy and hard to close completely but I think they are as good as it comes with these outside little poly buildings.
I am fairly handy with tools and it took me and wife 1 day to assemble..
be real careful with using a power driver on the screws as they are real easy to strip and follow the directions exactly when putting the door on the front of the building. The door directions are a little bit confusing especially the channel.
I like the style better than other manufacturers.Being all poly i hope to avoid deterioration over time which is why i chose this over constructing one of wood. There are extensions that are available to enlarge the building they seem to be fairly expensive..about $300 bucks [...]
Before u buy check out some poly buildings at your local big box store to see if u can assemble. it may be a little more challenging than some people expect.
Overall i would recommend this building.

Ok, so let me start out by saying that we searched all over the internet and local hardware stores (Lowes & Homedepot) and this was the best price on Amazon, due to the free shipping and no tax.
We ordered it and waited for delivery, which was a pretty reasonable time, since it is direct from the manufacturer. Took about 7 days to get here from the order date. When it arrived it was on a rollback truck and one guy unloaded it. It comes in 4 boxes (instructions are in box 1 of 4). The boxes took up about 1/4 of my one car garage. So make room somewhere.
1) Decide which type of sub-floor you are going to do: concrete, wood, gravel. We did wood (4 x 6 joists every 12 " ), on cinder blocks, with a plywood base. REALLY STRONG!!!
2) Lay out all the peices in all the boxes, organize them in to piles of like peices together. Then just follow the instruction book, it is VERY well explained. We varied a little (didn't assemble the roof frames till we actually needed them)but pretty much stuck to the plain. It is broken down into sections, so you can go little by little if needed. I loved how it told you all the parts, screws, and tools you would need to do the next section. Assembly took two people (my husband & I) about 3 hours. But we work really well together, so don't get upset if it takes you longer LOL :)
3) Two weeks after assembly and it is holding up very well. We have it all organized inside, using the shelves that come with it (plus a workbench my husband made)and wired (he's an electrician) with outlets and ceiling lights. We had a strong storm the other day, and not a drop got inside.
Well, that's about all I can say, except it really is the BEST SHED I EVER OWNED !!!!
