I had this installed in my house.
The tunnel itself is a flexible foil tube with a coil running through it. You have to wonder how sturdy it is and how long it will last. If you use your attic, you might hit and puncture the thing.
On mine, the tube separated from the dome. I am waiting to have the installers come out and fix it.
The lens that goes in your ceiling is a nice two layer acryllic circle with an airgap for insulation. It has a nice flange around the outside and looks fairly nice in the ceiling.
I would estimate that in the winter, the light is about equivelant to a 75 to 100 watt light bulb. It has a blueish tint to it, like a flourescent light. Of course, the amount of light you get out of it will depend upon many factors, like how long the tube is and where the dome faces.
You can get a nice little light kit to install inside of it, so at night you can use it as a ceiling light. The 32 Watt flourescent is about the same as the day time light.
