I've got one of those houses which was never intended to be inhabited without air conditioning - windows which don't open all the way, dead end hallways with no vent for hot air, and so forth. Surviving summer without AC in this architectural disaster requires a fleet of strategically placed fans. The only functional windows in my living room are a pair of small decorative lights on either side of a picture window. This fan, at approximately 10 x 10 x 6 inches deep, is one of the few fans on the market which will actually fit into the tiny opening of my living room windows. Despite its diminutive size, this little fan manages to air out my entire living room when I come home after work and turn it on. Unlike a lot of vortex style fans, this one seems to pull air from the back and not just the sides, so it brings in outside air when it's sitting on a window sill.
