I was waiting in anticipation for this product as I have a 14 year old son who has a tendency to climb in and out of his window seeking new and adventurous outings without prior approval. When I received the wireless alarms (I purchased two) I wanted to place one on his window as an immediate deterrent of these episodes. After reading the instructions I looked for the small screwdriver that it was said to come with for easy installation. It didn't have one. No big deal. I have a screwdriver. I placed in the batteries and following the instructions set my 4 digit code. It accepted it and worked wonderfully well for the part of disarming it to enter through a door and setting itself off after 30 seconds or so if the correct code wasn't entered properly. It also had a feature to push the number 4 to get in and out of a door quickly without setting it off as long as the code was entered or it was back in place next to the magnetic do-jobbie within a certain amount of time. Unfortunately I was unable to get it to set itself off simply by sliding the magnet away from the device as it would do if someone entered without the prior knowledge of it being there or attempting to disarm it or previously pushing the number four. After several attempts to set it off this way I decided that by some miracle it may work if I went ahead and installed it. (I had reprogrammed it several times thinking there was a mistake with that which there was not). We have pretty standard newer windows with the double glass and plastic frame which are fairly common in homes built with your basic floor plan. I was totally unable to find a way to attach this to the inside of our windows in a fashion in which it would possibly work if it indeed HAD worked properly. It seems that I would have no problem attaching it to a door unless it was maybe on an inner door or the sunken side of the frame. Yet even with that it clearly was not going to work if someone simply opened the door, walked through and shut the door. It would not set off the alarm when the magnetic seal was broken. Hoping it was just a flawed item I opened the 2nd one and had the same problem (also with out the "included" screwdriver). I read and re-read the the paperwork believing there must be some simple answer to these delusive instructions but to no avail. They now decorate a secluded corner of a junk drawer in my workbench. I put a keyed window lock on the window for the moment but will continue to search for a better alternative (without installing an entire expensive security system) due to the fire saftey issue of having to lock the window with actual hardware. If anyone gets these to work, please post a reply as I will continue to check back in hopes that I may resurrect these items from the "junk drawer grave". Good luck... and may the force be with you.
