(More customer reviews)The instructions are inadequate and inconsistent. The product is the poorest made thing I have every purchased. The plastic tab that covers the battery compartment does not snap shut and merely falls off. It is impossible to mount the sensors with the double sided tape and use the sensor housing that allegedly will protect them from the weather. The double sided tape is not sufficient to hold up the solar battery portion. It is too late to return it so will be filing this one in the trash.

(More customer reviews)This is a handsome looking unit from the picture and it looks good in a kitchen too. However, given it's cost, I was disappointed by the quality of materials and instructions provided.
This type of lighting could be expensive and in this arena, I think it's a good product. However, the finish is very inexpensive and in my opinion poor quality. The wood is also inexpensive and even the cord and swith on the cord seems to be an area where the manufacturer cut some corners.
The assemble instructions that came with mine were very poor photocopies with equally poorly written materials. I had to assemble and disassemble the unit a few times to get it right. Interestingly, there were actually TWO sets of instructions for assembly included with different part names, letters or numbers, neither of which had diagrams that were highly resolved enough to see except for one.
I think this is a nice unit for growing herbs, but their are others out there and some are even less expensive. There is also a similar unit to this which is a different color, but they are basically the same and my comments hold for both.
I must say that overall, I am somewhat disappointed with this purchase. For this kind of money, I expect better quality and better enclosed materials. I realize it's possible I got bad photocopies, but I'm sure I got the same finish, power cord, switch and parts that others will get.
I advise that you shop around and see what you can get for your money. There is one unit which I haven't set up yet called AeroGarden which is also sold on Amazon. Chef's seem to like it and my understanding is that you can grow herbs and vegetables up to five times faster with this method. I bought one, but didn't set it up yet. I will review it when I get a chance to see how it performs.

Friedrich XQ08l10A AC 8000 BTU 115V 10.8 SLIDEOUT Review

(More customer reviews)This thing really throws out the cold air. I measured the air temperature at 26 deg. coming out of the vent. Most other AC's I've had are around 38-40 deg. I really like the programmable features as I have it set to go on about an hour or 2 before I go to bed so my room is nice and cool, and it goes off in the middle of the night. The low fan speed is also very low which makes it quieter. I've noticed on a lot of other units the low speed is not that low, so you get more fan noise. Also the compressor seems relatively quiet, not sure if it's any quieter than other units, but I don't have a problem sleeping with this on, and I'm sensitive to noise when I sleep.
On the negative side, when the compressor first comes on it's a little noisier for a couple minutes then quiets down. So if it's cycling on and off very much, it can be irritating, probably not too noticeable though if it's not in a bedroom. Also the thermostat goes down to 60 deg, but it won't get the room that cold, it usually starts cycling on and off at about 67-68, but it still can get the room down to 64-65 deg.
It's a solid AC, seems like it shouldn't have the negatives I mentioned for the price of the unit, but it still throws out a lot of very cold air, so it could be worth it.

Royal Sovereign ARP-4009 Portable Air Conditioner 9,000 BTU Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased the royal Sovereign ARP-4009 June 2008, used it last summer for about 3 months and didn't turn it on again until July of this year. It worked for about one week and stopped blowing cold air after that. The unit still turns on and produces air but it blows hot air. We realized that we had just missed the one-year Full Warranty period but the unit still qualifies for the Limited Five Year Warranty which the manufacture will replace the compressor (parts only). I looked up for Royal Sovereign's website for a service contact and they showed a total of 10 in California. I called two and were told by both that they do not service Royal Sovereign anymore. I called a 3rd repair shop which is approximately 45 miles from my house. I made an appointment and brought the unit in. They informed me after a week that there was a problem with the compressor and the condenser. Even though, the parts will be supplied by Royal Sovereign but their labor would cost $250. For the price, we could almost purchase a new portable air condition.
I don't understand how the unit would stop working after one year or to be exact, 3 months of usage. I am frustrated that Royal Sovereign does not have enough service locations which made it very difficult to compare price on the repair. The next closest repair shop to me is approximately 60+ miles away and a totally different direction from the first shop that gave me the estimate. And we only live 20 miles East of downtown Los Angeles!

It's definitely more expensive than a window air conditioner (probably at least double the cost); you're paying for appearance and convenience, not functionality. (It's easy to disconnect this unit and roll it away into a corner or closet.)
I bought two of these for two rooms with sliding casement windows that posed problems for window units -- and I didn't want to bother with installing and then removing bulky window units every season. One of the rooms is a very large bedroom with a cathedral ceiling, and the Frigidaire portable air conditioner has no problem keeping it cool. Your options for placing the unit are rather limited -- there is a somewhat flexible duct that must be run from the back of the unit to a window (or a hole through an exterior wall), and you also need a nearby electrical outlet, preferably on an isolated circuit.

(More customer reviews)This is a worthless cheap poorly designed piece of trash. Don't waste your money. It's just a couple of pieces of PVC that slide in and out of each other with a spring inside. Chances are it won't fit on your door the way it is originaly intended unless the sider has about two inches of exposed frame at the top. Most sliding doors don't. Which means that you will have to use the alternate method and install it verticaly on the back end of the sider. This looks tacky and doesn't really work all that well. I had to take the entire thing apart and redesign it so the spring had more tension to get it to close the door.
