(More customer reviews)I bought this for a friend who had older, double, wood windows with the original lock broken. Before installation of this lock, the window could be opened from the outside by sliding the bottom window UP, or the upper window, DOWN. This, however, was a very low-cost fix for that problem! After installation, it prevents either window from being moved from the outside. One of the great things about this product is that you can raise or lower the window to a certain point, to let air in, and set the lock to not allow it to be opened any wider. Great for security. The only thing that could have been better (and the only reason I didn't give it a 5-star rating) is that it didn't come with any installation directions. Perhaps the manufacturer assumes everybody knows how to put these things in, I don't know. But two single girls sure didn't know! Got it figured out though, and it's working very well.
