(More customer reviews)We had just bought two new kittens, but our inner city apartment gets so hot at times, we realized we needed to find a solution to allow us to open the windows. Many stores sell cheap plastic adjustable screens that look very flimsy. These screens, while very inexpensive (I bought them for around $5 each), are made of solid wood, metal, and screen, and are very well constructed. The wood isn't the most attractive, but it would be very easy to paint to match any walls, so I guess that's a plus (we just don't have any paint!). They are very sturdy. Our cats have grown up to be about 10 pounds each, and they love to sit right up against the screens to get fresh air. Never once have they bent or broke, and the cats haven't been able to do anything to damage them. Excellent product.

(More customer reviews)This window screen is very poorly constructed, even considering that it supposed to be an inexpensive product. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND of adjustable window screen. I have a couple other, slightly larger, screens from other manufacturers and they are of markedly superior construction and they cost about half as much money. I only wish I could have found this size in another make.

We wanted something to help keep the bugs out and our family pets in when the weather was nice enough to open our windows, without having to go through the expense of having custom screens made. They expand into the window frames, and the window panes rest on top, creating a sturdy fit that stays put when the wind gusts in. The sides are reinforced with wood, which helps the screens absorb the weight of the windows, and while the stray gnat still can make it inside, larger bugs cannot. Overall, we are extremely pleased with our purchase. The screens have already paid for themselves in energy savings, and we feel that having fresh air in our home is great for our family's health.

(More customer reviews)I bought several of these window screens at the same time, and so far I have been pleased. Yes, they are cheaply made, that's why they are so cheap. They function well at letting breeze in without filling your house full of mosquitoes and flies, and you can save a lot of money by not having to turn on the AC very often. That is exactly why I like them.
I would not expect these window screens to do well at keeping out (or in) ants, cats, dogs, burglars, rain, or rambunctious children, because they simply are not that sturdy.

(More customer reviews)For some reason these were impossible for me to find, I must have went to 4 hardware stores until I found these ventilators here on Amazon. I had just put in new windows in my home, the new windows required no storm windows so I was worried that if I wanted to let some air into the house during a rain storm, water would be pouring in too. They worked perfectly, allowing me to get fresh air and keeping the water out! Beware of the ones made in China, Marvin makes the best!

(More customer reviews)Our house was built in 1866 and still has the huge and heavy old-fashioned storm windows and screens that have to be put up and taken down at the change of seasons. Of course, many of the screens are starting to fall apart, have large holes, etc. I bought 2 of these for a couple of windows where we just did not want to spend the money to get the big old ones repaired. They look fine and are just big enough to let in a nice breeze but not too much wind.
They are not security windows and I do not use them upstairs because I am have little kids but they work great downstairs letting in the breeze and not the bugs.
Great product for the price and ease of use.
