(More customer reviews)NY Wire Screen Frame Kits are pretty good. I am making vinyl storm-type windows for my garage. Works only with thin vinyl. The corner springs and pull-handles are not useable. Ther should make some other size kits, and the corner connectors should be offered separately. I have had to cut down several of the longer pieces (comes only in 36" and 48"), and needed more corner connectors...still trying to locate them. The frames are quite thin and need "help" to hold them in/down. I'm using the small aluminum screen screw-in adjustable hold-downs, which work OK, and are definitely needed on the longer sides. Just glad that SOMETHING is out there for a reasonable price without having to replace all of my windows, or hire a specialist to make custom windows!

Update 10/28: I am sorry that someone didn't find my review helpful. I am guessing I wasn't clear enough. The problem with these is that in the Technical Details section, it mentions that these have repeating pattern, so you can add panels to the top, bottom, etc. I thought that was the case, so I bought 3 of them for my child's room [Note: I have used many similar products, bamboo prints, rice paper, etc; so I never once doubted the claim]. But when they arrived, I found out that it was pretty much impossible to place them in a format that would cover the entire window. Hence they were pretty much useless for me. Of-course Amazon was nice enough to understand the issue and they were quick enough to rectify it for me.

Adjustable Window Screen, 15" x 20" to 37" Review

(More customer reviews)I live in a downtown loft with large windows and needed screens to keep the bugs out in nice weather. These do the trick. Adjustable, light weight and CHEAP! Great deal. Our windows are a little wider than the 37 inches these extend to, but we bought 4 and just put 2 in the larger windows to compensate. These arrived about 5 days sooner that I thought they would, too. Highly recommend these for anyone living in a downtown loft that does not allow tenants to install screens.

Gila CS78 Glare Control Residential Window Film, Smoke, 36-Inch by 6-1/2-Feet Review

(More customer reviews)I needed to stop spending so much on my A/C. My apartment has two big windows in the bedroom and two sliding glass doors in the living room. So during the worst of the summer, these rooms heat up a lot! So when I come home it's 84 degrees inside; on goes the A/C and up goes my bill.
I was dubious about whether this product would work. I definitely needed something removable so that I wouldn't get in trouble with my landlord. Most of the other window film products are semi-permanent--that is, once you put them on, they're on. You'd have to buy remover spray and razor blade it off. Not so with this product! It simply peels off.
Yes, it's slightly hard to manage with just one person. The directions do say to use two people. Anyway, once you get the backing off and position it, it simply sticks to your glass window. No water or anything. You then use a wide scraper, plastic squeegee, or (like I did), a "smoothing tool" (plastic scraper) for wallpaper. Works great in smoothing out the peel and cling window film. I then ran the smoothing tool along each edge with an X-acto knife and it was trimmed right to the window!
I didn't see any large bubbles... but with a few small bubbles or wrinkles, I just peeled the film off from a corner until I got to the bubble or wrinkle, then smoothed it back down with the tool. No problem.
My only complaint is that it works a bit too well! Although my rooms are now 6 degrees cooler when I come home, they are just a bit too dark. I trimmed the window tint to let the top third of the windows shine through. Problem solved. Now I get the right amount of light, but get a less heated, stuffy room. Perfect for the midwest.
I hope others have good luck with this product. I did!

(More customer reviews)I ordered this for the window in our front door. I wanted something that would give a little privacy and still let light through. This does just that! The majority of the film is frosted, though there are a few small areas that are not (so I can still tell who's there when the doorbell rings). It was pretty easy to put up, though getting it cut to size was a little tricky for me since I don't really like to measure things. It goes up with just a little water and the included squeegee. I've had it on the window for a few weeks now with no problems.

I had originally bought a Gila product in the Depot, but opened that only to find that you had to purchase their own solution in order to install, plus it looked too complicated. Returned. After reading reviews, I bought this Artscapes product through Amazon and am extremely happy with the result. It was very easy to install using household water and soap, and they even provided the squeegie. Design is beautiful. Only 4 stars due to price, which seems a bit high. The quality of the product is top notch though. Fast free delivery from Amazon too.

Clematis Window Film 24-by-36-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)My husband applied this window film yesterday. The colors are rich, deep and very pretty. However, the instructions do not state that the film shrinks in the drying process. The film was cut to fit the window exactly, but while drying it began pulling away from the center. He had to then push the two pieces together to keep the match. When completely dried, the film now does not cover the entire window and there is a clear line of glass on each side. If we were forewarned about this and made proper adjustments, it would look professionally done. However, now it does not look as it should. Disappointed.

(More customer reviews)Still smarting after a recent wrangle with Gila film, I was hesitant to try Artscape's window film, but am pleased I did. Installation really was quite a snap (albeit a wet one), and with a little patience and good backlighting - you'll want to install window film during the day so you can better see and chase out any bubbles - I found myself with a quite lovely rice paper privacy window in under a half hour. It seems durable, and is very pretty. The real test of any "cling" style window film is whether they maintain adherence over time, so I'll update this review a few months from now to report on that. That said, this $20 impulse buy at the Home Depot turned out to be one of the most satisfying little home projects I've done. Huzzah Artscape!

(More customer reviews)I bought a couple of these for my 2 half-circle windows on the front of my house. Each room becomes warm in the summertime, with the sun beating through the windows. This shade blocks the direct sunlight, but will still let ambient light through, which is fine for my needs. The rooms are much cooler now with this in place. The shades were easy to cut with a fine-toothed hacksaw. The only thing keeping me from scoring 5 out of 5 was the description indicating that the shade was made of vinyl and was washable. This is not the case, or at least it's not the type of vinyl I was expecting. It's more like a sturdy paper, and I am reluctant to wash it with water for fear of damaging the shade.

Gila LES361 Heat Control Residential Window Film, Platinum, 36-Inch by 15-Feet Review

(More customer reviews)My wife and I have now installed this film on several windows and two patio doors in our home. In the process, we have messed up a couple of times, but managed to figure out why (see helpful hints below).
I don't know how effective the heat control film is at keeping out the heat. Only time will tell.
But here are three recommendations for "frustration free" installation:
1) ALWAYS have someone helping you. Don't even think about instalilng this without at least two people.
2) Before peeling the film (very sticky) from the liner, spray both sides generously. This helps cut down on the static electricity, which causes the film to curl and stick to itself--often resulting in ruined film and frustrated installers.

3) Gila does not suggest this, but it worked like a charm with us (after we had messed up, unfortunately). Before you peel the liner from the film, have your helper clip two clothespins to the bottom two corners while you hold the top corners (this will prevent the corners from curling and sticking). As your partner begins to peel the liner from the film (slowly!), have him/her spray the sticky side generously. When there is about an inch of liner left to peel, go ahead and apply the film to the window. Before squeegeeing to the window, remove the clothespins and the last inch or two of liner. If you follow this important step, you should not have problems with the film curling. I don't know why Gila does not suggest this. Maybe they have not thought of it yet.
BTW: I just sprayed regular water on the non-sticky side when squeegeeing the film to the window. I also did this when spraying both sides to ward off static electricity. I did use the Gila stuff, however, on the sticky side of the film and on the window.
