M-D Building Products 3525 V-Flex Weatherstrip,17-Foot Length, 3/8-Inch Wide, White Review

(More customer reviews)I've put this on three doors, and it works really well, but you need to think a bit about what you're doing.
First off, if you haven't used any kind of v-strip before - it folds in half, into a V. There's self-stick stuff on one outer side of the V. You look at where a door or window is going to close, and stick it on such that when the door closes it will press against the pointy side, offering little resistance and pushing the V flat. When the door opens the material will spring out, at most into more of an L shape. Therefore the maximum width it can seal is half the width of the tape (and realistically a bit less). So if you see a 7/8 wide tape that seals 3/8 like this one, well, that's why.
The nice thing is that there's a fair amount of flex to it, and if you have an uneven gap it will do a pretty good job of filling it, since the door will push down as needed. It's quite thin, so if it starts binding you probably didn't need any weatherstripping anyway. It's much less frustrating than various foam or rubber solutions where you pretty much have to exactly match the width (although those probably provide more insulation if you can get them to work). I have a door that's badly wider at the bottom than the top so this is pretty much the only kind of product that's going to work.
The downside is that the first time you use it, you kind of have to puzzle out where to stick it pointing in what direction and the directions aren't that good. But if you just fold it so the stickem is on the outside and walk over to a door and hold it up and orient it so that the stickem sticks to something and the pointy side points towards the door you'll see how it has to go. It's not rocket science, but I can definitely see that if you didn't think about it and just started sticking it around you wouldn't be very happy with the results. If you don't want to be a "one star" person you can always cut off an inch and make sure you know how it all works before sticking the whole roll to the door.

Our deck has a 1.5" thick, 32" square clear acrylic floor panel that is flush with the decking. That panel lets light through to the basement window below it. To remove that heavy panel for periodic cleaning, I bought two of these HODs. Handle On Demand is actually a pretty good name, because they made lifting the 50 lb. acrylic (plastic) utterly simple. The rubber suction pads left no marks, even on something as scratch-prone as plastic.
Each HOD comes in a study cardboard box that can be used to store it when not in use and to keep the tool clean. For the first time, my wife can safely lift the glass table-tops from our living room tables so she can clean underneath.
Things to consider:
- If you're frequently moving things such as big pieces of plate glass, consider buying professional grade vacuum cups, as they typically have greater capacity than this tool. E.g., do a Google Shopping search on: vacuum cup
- This type of vacuum cup tool is designed to lift things with a flat surface. If lifting curved items, such as a car windshield, this isn't the right tool. For examples of the type of tool to use in that case, Google Shopping search on: double swivel vacuum cups
- This is the least expensive lifting tool of this type you're likely to find. I.e., professional versions of this tool have much stronger aluminum handles, but are significantly more costly. Warp Brothers SK-54 Shrink Film Window Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I can safely say that I no longer fear death after my experience with Warp Brothers SK-38 18' Shrink-It Window Insulation Kit. I ordered two of these to seal off the drafty windows in my bedroom. Upon arrival, one of the plastic insulation sheets was ripped and the other one was so tightly clung by its folds that it ripped as we unfolded it. So much for a tight seal on the window.
Despite the rip, we were able to use one of the sheets over the window. The tape that comes with the kit (the kit, by the way, is a piece of saran wrap and some double-sided tape. But I knew that before buying it) didn't stick to our window so I had to heat it first. Then it was so sticky that I couldn't get the backing off. Eventually, though, I got the plastic in place and started to hair-dry the thing. Amazingly, it formed a really tight seal and effectively shrink-wrapped our window. We were impressed by that. We were not impressed by its ability to keep out the cold, however, as we immediately felt a draft again even with the plastic properly in place. While your milage may vary, the only increased warmth I felt was the searing rage I began to feel towards the Warp Brothers.
Buy this item if you think shrink-wrapping your window might be fun. If you want the room to be warmer, buy a space heater.

Our windows are a little wider than the 37 inches these extend to, but we bought 4 and just put 2 in the larger windows to compensate. These arrived about 5 days sooner that I thought they would, too. Highly recommend these for anyone living in a downtown loft that does not allow tenants to install screens.

(More customer reviews)This product pretty much works as advertised. Works well in cutting off drafts between a door and its frame (not under the door). Also works decently well in cutting down sound. Don't expected it to completely sound proof the door, but it does muffle the sound of the TV and radio and voices from within the room. Make sure you thoroughly clean the surface you are applying this to. The adhesive will come off if you do not. I feel the adhesive could be stronger as well.
