(More customer reviews)Although we have come around to liking this product we were initally disappointed in what was sold as a unit that did not need draining. It does need to be drained or it will automatically shut off after an hour and a half usage. We have it on top of a bowl so that it can drain and thus stay on. It cools the room well but is more work than we expected. Just know what you are buying-an air conditioner that is not self draining!

- saves you in energy bills since it can cool the room instead of using the ac
- filters are washable
- the included remote gives you controls even in bed
- the 30 min interval timer feature is great specially when it gets too cold at night
cons:
- the ionizer feature is more of a display light than anything
- needs a weekly maintenance. water mineral builds up at the bottom, if you let it sit for more than a week, taking it out posts a problem.
- if you even find the time to actually clean the insides of the fan and and take out the dusts and water deposits, it would take a lot of patients since the machine wasn't designed for easy disassemble. (you'll need a thin long screw driver to take out some of the screws.)
bottom line:
machine is great as an alternative humidifier and room fan. It is a high maintenance machine make sure you clean it every week or two.

(More customer reviews)Room cools a 15 x 20 ft. room plus attached bathroom nicely. I am in a fairly dry desert climate and it is cheaper and more effective than A/C.
Need to refill every day or two with a couple gallons of H2O and it also has an ICE TRAY you can add ice cubes to that helps cool a little more.
Will buy another if the need arises.

I have been using them in my office, warehouse, home and in an underground parking lot at the apartment I live in (and manage), for more than a decade. Using them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they normally last 3 to 10 years each. I do wish there was a discount in shipping, when ordering in quantity.

(More customer reviews)I cannot get a window unit due to my window size, and this unit came with a window kit that fit my windows. It worked absolutely perfect for 2 months. Then, on a particularly hot day, the bucket filled up with water and the unit shut off. I drained all the water, which is an absolute pain in the rear to do due to the drain being less than half an inch off the floor. The unit leaks water like a faucet ever since, all over the floor. There is really no effective way to use it anymore. I ordered a different brand that doesn't have water leakage issues. I should have listened to all the reviews I read. I practically paid several hundred dollars for a few months use. What a waste. The unit cools great, but what good is that with water all over your carpet? Stay away from this product.UPDATE: The unit only leaks when moved. If the water reservoir fills up, and must be drained, the unit must be moved to do so because the drain plug is literally right on the floor and there is no pan or container you can get under it. The reservoir will fill eventually, the unit will have to be drained, will have to be moved, will leak. Once all the water leaks out that is going to leak the unit works great until its time to drain again. Like I said, it took 2 months before I had to drain, but this process was a major PIA. I would avoid this unit, but I still gave in another star because it does not leak except during the drainage process.

(More customer reviews)First off, this is NOT an air conditioner. If you expect your room to be freezing cold, this is not the product for you. It's a COOLER, and it does its job very well. It works by evaporating water. Try soaking a T-shirt, wringing it out, and putting it on wet to get the effect. It doesn't work very well in humid areas, but it works GREAT where the air is dry.
I'm in southern California, where the humidity varies pretty widely. I place the cooler six or eight feet from my chair, and on the hottest days I'm quite comfortable.
Benefits:
* it's about 1/5 the cost of an air conditioner
* operating expense is a fraction of the cost of air conditioning
* neat features! (timer, sleep function, etc.)
* remote control
Drawbacks:
* it's not freezing cold like air conditioning.

I've found that every few months mine needs to be turned off and reset, or the fan will just run continously.
