(More customer reviews)I mounted this power strip on my garage workbench. Six feet long with 24 outlets and integrated surge suppressor. This power strip is built like a brick telephone booth--outstanding quality. Easily mounted to the top of my workbench with three mounting clips.
Note that if you do mount a strip 'against the wall' leave at least one inch of clearance. There are many DC power supplies (cell phone chargers, drill chargers, etc.) that have a bulky transformer at the plug and will be wider than the strip.

This isn't the most powerful one I own (1,000 Joules protection is relatively good but not spectacular) but I'm not using it for delicate electronic equipment. I had an extension cord running from behind the couch so I could use that outlet for a fan and a couple of lamps. With the Tripp Lite TLP712 I don't have dangerous extension cords all over the place, I have use of that outlet and the things I plug into it are protected.
It does the job I bought it for just fine.

Received everything I ordered online through AMAZON.COM from the Seller 365USA in excellent condition and packed very securely and showing care for efficient delivery. Received the shipment Dec. 17, 2009 via UPS so delivery was as expected, if not sooner. UPS drivers were hurried because of Christmas rush I'm sure. Items were as advertised and were in new condition still in original packaging. I would definitely recommend this item as a good BUY (at the price I paid-- may have went UP), even though there are many more expensive similar units on the market which offer a 'greater degree' of protection by number of Joules and Maximum Spike Current Amperage blocked from reaching your delicate electronics. (More customer reviews)The APC Per7 surge arrest is really good. With 7 sockets, it almost has everything you want to put in. However, the sockets are very near each other, so if you are putting a big adapter in it, it almost occupies 3 sockets, making the other 2 unusable.
I think I made a little mistake buying it. I highly recommend going for the APC pro8T2 Surge arrest which is better in all ways, and has a complete value for money!

(More customer reviews)The power strip I received looks a little different than the one pictured. The picture doesn't even show the whole thing but I can still tell. Maybe the model has been updated? In any case, I did not realize the cord comes out of the front face (the side with outlets). I was expecting/hoping it to come out of one end, as most other power strips seem to do. The included mounting hardware is a nice touch, but I've yet to try it out. Overall it seems to work but it's not exactly what I was expecting.

(More customer reviews)I needed a new power strip for my home theater after adding a HTPC. I was previously using an old Monster PowerCenter HTS 2000 that I got for free several years ago and an APC office surge strip. I did a lot of research on various power centers, conditioners from Belkin, Panamax, Monster, Furman, APC and more. After encountering a lot of the same bizarre pseudo science and hand-waving one encounters in audiophilia and consulting with a couple of A/V professionals (not salespeople) I decided to skip that whole thing and just get a really high quality surge protector.
I've seen Tripp-Lite surge protectors in server rooms and IT workbenches for years and the form factor was appealing because it's about the most compact way to connect that many devices and still have room for all the various power bricks and adapters. So I took a chance and ordered this. I nearly got the 24-outlet Tripp Lite SS7619-15 Multiple Outlet Strip w/ Surge Protection 15-Amp 16 outlets 15ft Cord 450 Joules but I came back to my senses once I realized that my A/V rack is 48" wide and the larger version is a full six feet long.
In use it's actually very convenient to be able to group power plugs with all the space you have. I'm using 9 of the outlets now. As far as my sound and picture it's the same as when I used my fancy Monster strip which is exactly what I expected.
My one caveat with this thing is that it's not very friendly to home environments if you're concerned about hiding it. It's a full 4 feet long, the power cord is black and very thick. It works great behind a piece of furniture and the shape means it takes up less space than "side by side" models.

As almost all wall warts plug in with the cord between the blades of the plug, that means when plugged into this strip the cords are in-line with the strip instead of at right angles to it as they should be. For this reason, even though the outlets are wide apart the cord still blocks the next outlet in line so I can only use half of them.
