(More customer reviews)I bought this unit to protect my new Samsung 46" LCD TV, which has both a DVD player and a Tivo unit plugged into it. Over the years I have come to trust APC with my computers and electronics and this time was no exception, especially considering the $50,000 lifetime proection included with the unit. There is not much else to say about the unit, so I will finish with pro's & con's.
Pros:
- Reasonable price for a reputable brand
- Includes $50,000 equipment guarantee
- 1700 joules protection rating
- Has coax & phone line proection for cable and satellite equipment
- Includes 6' coax cable and phone cord as well
Cons:
- Safety shutters built into each plug feel plasticy when plugging in new items
- Light weight, so it tends to not stay in place unless mounted

I just ordered one of these, and I thought I would pass along that this is the best surge protector APC offers with only 40v "let through" (most "good ones" are rated at 300V), also this one will "kill itself" if necessary to protect your equipment. Other protectors will loose their protection circuitry and keep your equipment connected. I have many stories from personal experience giving kudos to this company's products, but I gotta go.

Tripp Lite TRAVELER Protect It Surge Protector/Suppressor 2 outlets (2 Transformers) For Laptop Use, Direct Plug-In 1050 Joules Review

(More customer reviews)Basically it's the best mov surge protector for a laptop. mov's are little disks in the surge protector that litterally pop when a surge spike happens. If you can handle the small weight difference the white isoblok 2-0 is better. It is a lower joule rating but offers a 0 sec. clamp time and lower voltage threshold. A spike only lasts around 1ns and a surge 3 ns. This adapter is ok at under 1ns. It is at 150 volts though and the isoblock is at 140 volts. Remember that not all power out of a socket is at 120 volts (110 in Japan). Either way you would need a new adapter every year just to be safe as the mov's are only worth 1 spike. Its far cheaper than buying a new laptop.

(More customer reviews)The APC Per7 surge arrest is really good. With 7 sockets, it almost has everything you want to put in. However, the sockets are very near each other, so if you are putting a big adapter in it, it almost occupies 3 sockets, making the other 2 unusable.
I think I made a little mistake buying it. I highly recommend going for the APC pro8T2 Surge arrest which is better in all ways, and has a complete value for money!

(More customer reviews)First unit shipped to me had a significant ding on the front panel and was missing the handle that prevents you from accidentally switching the whole unit off. The replacement unit they sent had also been dropped and was in the shape of a deformed trapezoid. This company can't seem to ship undamaged product. It could be a simple matter of improving the packaging of the shipping box, as the boxes they come in are not very strong. They were not shipped in Amazon boxes.
It would be understandable if the units were cheap, but they're actually pretty expensive. So it's not really excusable.

It's a handy thing: LEDs let you know if the ground is working
as well as if the surge arrest is functioning.
The only thing that could be improved is that it's a Wart and
takes up about as much space as a transformer; this becomes
an issue if sharing a plug with someone else at the coffee
shop.
APC makes good stuff and the $25k warranty is nice as well.

APC 11 Outlet 3020J Surge suppressor with Phone (Splitter) and Coax Protection, 120V Review

(More customer reviews)My primary attraction to this product was the coaxial tv antenna protection. The product seems to be built soundly. All outlets worked, there are tons of them. The plug in cord was nice and heavy. I was pleasantly suprised that it came with a high quality 36" patch cable the TV antenna hookup, and I think a phone patch cable too. The instructions say not to run a satellite hookup through the coaxial input. I saw no information about that prior to purchase, so be aware this is useless for a digital dish type of signal. The one con I have is that it seemes to have caused a VERY SLIGHT loss of tv antenna signal. For one TV channel I rarely experienced frozen moments or signal loss, but immediately after hookup I now have occasional problems with that one channel. It is a fringe channel for me, but none the less, the signal seems to be reduced, therefor I took one star off the rating. I did not purchase the extended warranty with my plasma TV, so I am counting on this product to hopefully help me out with power or lightening issues.
