(More customer reviews)My ClimbTek 16' articulated ladder has more than met my needs around my single story ranch. I shopped for a very long time before making up my mind to buy the ClimbTek and my patience has been rewarded with a rugged and dependable tool.
I added the Stand Off/Stabilizer this past summer when the decision was made to stain the house. This simple, but well made, accessory really helped out a lot.
It can be attached to the ladder on any rung as a stand off, making it useful at either 8', 12' or fully extended at 16'. (That would be 6', 9' or 12' for the shorter ladder.)
Attached at the "top" of the ladder it provides a much wider footprint to stabilize the ladder in any of the scaffold configurations.
Two uses in one, easy on and off - and it cleans up as easily as the ladder at the end of the work day. My only change was to switch out the provided wingnuts with large (threaded) nobs.
I can't work wingnuts in gloves up here and my ClimbTek is an around the year tool!

Extech TH10 TEMPERATURE USB Datalogger Review

(More customer reviews)The temperature logger works as advertised and the data seems accurate. The price compares well with other USB temperature logging solution. However the supplied driver only runs on windows XP but then I didn't try that hard to make it run on windows 7. The software's user interface needs updating. It looks and feels like software from early 90s. I found the CSV export feature disappointing as the data needs editing and formatting before I could do any effective analysis.
I would prefer an interface in which the logger just behaves like a flash memory card with a single CSV files containing the temperature log, simple and effective. No software beyond a spreadsheet program required. I ended up analyzing temperature data in a spreadsheet anyway.

Ladder-Max Stand-off Stabilizer Review

(More customer reviews)For years I've had no choice but to rest my extension ladder against the gutters in order to clean them out. This certainly hasn't been very kind to the gutters themselves; but more importantly, I've always feared that the ladder could slip and I would fall to the ground with it. And that hasn't been a very comforting thought.
Last November I hired someone to clean the leaves from the gutters that had accumulated in them when they fell from the trees. I watched him and saw that he had some sort of ladder stabilizer that provided him with real stability. Until then I didn't know such things existed. This spring -- after a horrible windstorm that blew all the maple trees' 'polly noses' into the gutters and clogged them horrendously (particularly after they started to sprout), I went to my local Home Depot where I bought a Werner stabilizer. I attached it to my ladder and gave it a test run. I immediately found out that it was useless for my purposes because the arms were not deep enough to touch the roof, and the ladder still rested on the gutter. I took it back to Home Depot.
I then began my on-line research. I finally boiled it down to two options: (1) the Louisville Ladder Adjustable Ladder Stabilizer; and, (2) the Ladder-Max Stand-off Stabilizer. I liked the adjustability concept of the Louisville Ladder stabilizer, and I also liked the idea of free shipping, but I could not find anything on line that would show me how it attached to the ladder, and/or how it came off the ladder. To me that was of critical importance because I would only be attaching the stabilizer when I needed to use the ladder, and would then remove the stabilizer when I had finished. I was afraid that if there wasn't something that showed how easily it went on and off the ladder that it probably wasn't too easy. I contacted Louisville Ladder and they finally sent me the instructions. As I suspected, mounting and unmounting their stabilizer necessitated the use of tools for each procedure.
The Ladder-Max web site, however shows exactly how their stabilizer attached to and came off the ladder. It looked easy and it is!
I bought the Ladder-Max stabilizer.
It's a bit tricky to assemble, but once assembled it attaches to the ladder in seconds. And it comes off just as easily. No tools required!
I used it for the first time the other day and it's a pleasure. The arms are long enough to rest on the roof and the bumpers on the end of the arms seem well designed and did no damage to my asphalt shingles. For the first time ever (and I've been a home owner for 42 years) I felt secure while cleaning my gutters.
There's no question that with any stabilizer attached to one's ladder makes moving the ladder a bit more problematic, but the rock-solid feel while up on the ladder with the Ladder-Max Stand-off Stabilizer outweighs any such concern for me. And my wife is happy that I'm not likely to fall.

Take in concideration that I am using a 3-1/2 HP Milwaukee table mounted router. Be sure to watch the included video for a detailed set up instruction. The price for the bit set was average, but the free shipping made it worth it. The 97-204 set is for 3/4" panels and does leave the panel proud of the stile and rail heights. If you are looking for flush panel heights you can plane down your panels to 5/8" or get the bit set with the second cutter to do flush mount panels.

Step 1: I wanted to work comfortably in a 22 x 22 (9 foot ceiling) garage in the winter. Figuring I'd need lots of heat, I bought a portable 40,000 btu propane heater. It exhausts lots of carbon monoxide, so you have to partially open a door or window to the outside to let [cold] fresh air in -- which seriously lowers heater efficiency. The heater warmed the garage, but the approach wasn't satisfactory -- i.e., the fumes were so bad, I stopped using it. It was also very loud, like the hissing of escaping air from a large air boat; plus, when the propane tank ran out, the heater stopped; each time you needed heat, you had to drag it out, connect it to the tank, leave plenty of floor space around this self-contained-blowtorch; put it all away when you were done; and of course find a place to store it. Also, there was no thermostat. All in all, a royal pain in the keister.
Step 2: I bought one of these electric heaters. It has only half the btu's of the propane unit, but there is no need to open a window or door for ventilation. It also has a thermostat, so you can set it (to a number, not a temperature), and come back 30 minutes later and be in relative comfort. On days in the low 30s, it will keep the garage in the 60s, which is fine for working.. (My attached garage ceiling and 2 walls are insulated.) My heater is mounted high up on a wall, but it can also be mounted to hang from the ceiling, as long as the clearances laid out in the instructions, are followed. In any case, once mounted, it is out of the way, and always ready. There's nothing to haul out or set up when you need heat -- just turn it on. When done, just turn it off. This heater needs a dedicated 30-amp 220-volt circuit. You wouldn't want to use this every day, due to electricity costs, but for occasional use, it is perfect.
My advice is to skip step 1.
Note: This heater is also sold under the Dayton name, as the G73 Electric Garage Heater.

Wagner 905 1,500-Watt On-Demand Power Steamer and Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)First let me say... I am an agonizer-analyzer. I read all of the reviews out there on Amazon and the web that I can find. I was down to this... the Shark vs. Wagner steamers. Both seemed similar in reviews... I saved $5 bucks by purchasing the Wagner. I received it 1 day earlier then expected. I opened the box and dug in (yes, I am also a person that doesn't necessarily read the instructions... until I can't get something to work that is.) Guess what? EVERYTHING worked without reading the instructions. Note to the wise, it is probably best if you do. I have since gone back to ensure I was operating the machine safely and correctly.
I LOVE IT! When people say in their reviews that they couldn't stop cleaning stuff, it is SOOOOOO true. These are the things I have cleaned so far. 3 kitchen sinks. I couldn't believe how clean they became. They are all stainless and shining like mad. I really do believe they are clean enough to eat out of them (not that I would). I have granite counters with this itty bitty grout between the sinks and the counters. I didn't realize they used white grout... oh my gosh, they look like they were just put in and they are 11 years old.
What else? Yes, I didn't stop there. I went over to the stove. It is stainless steel with gas fixtures and iron grates. Do you know how many cleaners I have purchased for the black metal top that have never made it look like it was really totally clean? MANY, MANY, MANY. This machine did it! And I honestly have to say, I didn't put any real elbow grease in at all. It lifted stains that I thought were permanent. It also removed a burn mark in the stainless steel which had been there for at least 3 years (with a lot of scrubbing that didn't take it away). And, after using the machine, it was really only a matter of wiping a little water residue away.
I really like the length of the handle/hose. I left it on top of one counter and was able to walk around the kitchen without worrying if the yellow beauty was going to fall off the counter or not reach where I wanted to take it. Gotta LOVE IT!
Ok, the above were only a few things that I cleaned in the first 15 minutes of opening the box. I probably could have cleaned more but I figured I would save my joy for another day.
A few other comments... I read a review that it was loud to operate. The machine itself doesn't make any noise. It isn't like a motor is going while you are trying to clean. The only noise that is made is the high-pressure steam coming out of the nozzle. What do these people really expect? Hello.... It was music to my ears because of the clean-up it was doing. I can imagine that you wouldn't want to be locked in a small closed in space for long... but hey, it didn't take that long to see it sparkle.
This truly is a great investment, fun to use with FANTASTIC results.

we bought this for our daughter when she turned 6. She wanted us to paint her room pink AND purple but we settled on very soft pink(not HOT PINK like she wanted, whew).
We bought this mural because its color schematics matched well with the color that we chose as well as future color schematics that we'd be choosing(primary colors with softer tones such as blue works well with this castle).
It came rolled up and we had to reverse roll it to smooth it out a bit.
It was a bit big for one person to handle as I was being stubborn when my wife offered to help but I told her that I could do it, after all, this is just a peel and stick, and I am a MAN, right??
Well, not so fast...
It comes in three pieces...Center, right and left side.
I decided to eyeball the center of the wall and decided where to place the center piece without any measurement or marks (I would highly recommend anyone to NOT do this!!). Well, my eyes must have been crossed because the castle was NOT in the center and peeling it off and putting it back on a few times really DID a little bit of damage to this castle but I must say that the blame falls on me because I got impatient with each adjustment.
Just peeling it off the plastic backing alone made me sweat already because of the tiny "flag" that were fragile and I accidentally broke it. But I figured that I'd just "stick" and "match" it once I'd get the main part on.
It was a struggle to try to peel it off with it not sticking together in some areas and then trying to pry it open made me sweat more...(I would highly recommend having two people so the product doesn't stick to itself, it is a pain in the (_!_) to try to unstick itself)
after about 20 minutes of fumbling, I finally got the whole center part opened up but then realized that I was too short (I am 5'7") for where I'd wanted to place the castle...
I then went to get a ladder, eyeballed the center, stuck it on, tried to "iron" the bubbles out with my hands and once I'd gotten it on, I realized that it was crooked...
peeling it off the wall wasn't easy either, I broke off some more parts, stuck some parts together, again...sweated some more, and finally, got the center piece spread on the floor. And cursed it for being a very naughty castle...felt worse than swimming over a moat full of alligators and sharks...
I got smart this time, went to get a tape measurer, measured out the dimensions, measured out the center piece, got my wife's help, and with the two of us, it still got stuck together but was easier this time because my wife has nice nails and is a SMART woman and knew to do her best to not to get the material to stick to itself.
we then tried to piece the parts that I, the dumb husband broke off and tried to match it the best that I could...
from a distance, and from a 6 yo's view, it was perfect, but I KNEW where the parts broke off and upon close examination, one could see where the fissures were...
My wife helped with the other two parts of the castle and while it wasn't as hard, it wasn't as easy either as we tried the best to stick on, peel off, adjust, place back on, quite a few times until it was as seamless as possible...
if one is a perfectionist, they might put it on,peel it off, put it back on a few times to get that perfect match. I can tell you right now, that's not going to happen with the way they had factory cut this thing...
but overall, our little princess was happy after the mama and the papa worked on this project on monday monday when all the leaves were green and didn't finish until Friday Friday when all the leaves were brown...
but the smile on her face was well worth it...
We placed glowed in the dark stars above the castle as well as purchased the Disney Princess peel and stick (which is another story in and of itself) and her room is now the most desirable room in the house...
ahhh....what any parents wouldn't do for the big smile and dreams for their little girl(s)...

Bench Dog 10-016 Trim-Loc Casement Trim Installation Tool Review

(More customer reviews)When I ordered the Trim Loc Casement tool, I thought it would be a flimsy lightweight unit. I was surprised when I received it that it was built out of such thick aluminum. It is protected with a baked on finish that should last. It is one of those simple tools that give you big consistent results. Trying to eyeball the casement trim offset won't give you the consistent professional results of this tool.
I have several Bench Dog tools, and not one of them is less than best in class. They are decorated in many woodworking reviews, and this one deserves five stars. Highly recommended.
