We wanted something to help keep the bugs out and our family pets in when the weather was nice enough to open our windows, without having to go through the expense of having custom screens made. They expand into the window frames, and the window panes rest on top, creating a sturdy fit that stays put when the wind gusts in. The sides are reinforced with wood, which helps the screens absorb the weight of the windows, and while the stray gnat still can make it inside, larger bugs cannot. Overall, we are extremely pleased with our purchase. The screens have already paid for themselves in energy savings, and we feel that having fresh air in our home is great for our family's health.
